Help Customers Make the Perfect Purchase
Retail Associates are the primary customer-facing members of the Paws on Chicon store team.
You will welcome customers, learn about their pets, answer questions, recommend appropriate products, process transactions, prepare eCommerce orders, restock merchandise, and help maintain a clean, organized store. This is a consultative sales role built around listening, education, and long-term customer relationships—not high-pressure selling.

What You’ll Do
Your work will combine customer service, product education, sales, and daily store operations.
Customer Experience
- Welcome customers and provide knowledgeable, friendly service.
- Ask thoughtful questions to understand each pet’s needs.
- Answer questions clearly and help customers compare options.
- Build long-term relationships with pet parents.
- Educate customers about our free loyalty program and available rewards.
Product Recommendations
- Recommend high-quality pet food, treats, supplements, toys, and supplies.
- Explain product ingredients, features, and meaningful differences.
- Suggest complementary products that genuinely improve the customer’s purchase.
- Support sales goals through service rather than pressure.
- Continue developing practical pet-nutrition and product knowledge.
Store Operations
- Accurately process customer transactions.
- Pick, pack, and prepare eCommerce delivery and pickup orders.
- Receive and unload shipments.
- Restock merchandise and maintain product displays.
- Keep the store clean, organized, and customer-ready.
Teamwork and Reliability
- Communicate clearly with coworkers and store leadership.
- Support teammates during busy periods, deliveries, and shift transitions.
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Arrive prepared and ready to begin work on time.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.

Previous retail or customer-service experience is helpful but not required.
Paid Training
You do not need to arrive as a pet-nutrition expert. We will teach you the knowledge, systems, and procedures needed to succeed.
Work Schedule
Our stores are open seven days a week and most holidays. Flexibility and dependable availability are important.
- Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts
- Saturday and Sunday shifts
- Holiday shifts as required
- Schedules based on approved availability and store staffing needs
Weekend and holiday availability is required.
Physical Requirements
This is an active retail position involving customer service, stocking, receiving, and movement throughout the store.
✓ Stand and walk for extended periods.
✓ Bend, kneel, squat, reach, and climb step stools.
✓ Lift and carry merchandise and pet-food bags.
✓ Perform repetitive stocking and merchandising tasks.
✓ Operate registers and other store equipment.
✓ Work around dogs and other pets visiting the store.
✓ Read labels, prices, signs, and product information.
✓ Communicate effectively with customers and coworkers.

What This Position Does Not Include
Retail Associates support customer service and daily store operations but are not responsible for:
- Cash reconciliation
- Inventory adjustments
- eCommerce delivery decision-making
- Supervisory duties
