Help Lead a Successful Store Shift
Key Holders are experienced retail team members who take on additional responsibility for store operations, customer service, and shift-level leadership.
In addition to helping customers and completing regular retail responsibilities, Key Holders open and close the store, handle cash procedures, serve as Manager-on-Duty during assigned shifts, support team execution, and escalate operational or safety concerns to store leadership.

Provide dependable shift leadership while protecting store operations, supporting the team, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
What You’ll Do
Your work will combine customer service, retail operations, cash handling, and shift-level leadership.
Shift Leadership
- Serve as Manager-on-Duty during assigned shifts.
- Help ensure assigned tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Support customer satisfaction throughout the shift.
- Provide basic staff coaching and training as directed by the Store Leader.
- Escalate operational, safety, staffing, or customer concerns appropriately.
Opening, Closing, and Cash
- Open and close the store according to established procedures.
- Complete opening and end-of-day responsibilities.
- Handle registers, cash, and store funds accurately.
- Protect cash integrity and secure registers and safes.
- Help maintain store security during assigned shifts.
Customer Service
- Create a welcoming and helpful experience for customers and their pets.
- Assist customers with products, services, and store questions.
- Handle customer concerns calmly and professionally.
- Help de-escalate difficult situations when necessary.
- Seek leadership support when an issue exceeds the authority of the role.
Store Operations
- Support daily store tasks and operating standards.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, stocked, and customer-ready store.
- Execute eCommerce deliveries when scheduled.
- Respond promptly to safety or operational concerns.
- Document and report incidents according to company procedures.

Paid Training
We provide training on the procedures, standards, and leadership responsibilities required for the role.
Work Schedule
Our stores are open seven days a week and most holidays. Key Holders must be available for the opening, closing, weekend, and holiday shifts required by the store.

- Saturday and Sunday shifts
- Holiday shifts as required
- Occasional eCommerce delivery shifts when scheduled
Dependable availability for opening, closing, weekend, and holiday shifts is required.
Physical Requirements
This is an active retail position involving customer service, stocking, cleaning, store operations, and movement throughout the store.
✓ Stand and walk for extended periods.
✓ Bend, kneel, squat, reach, and climb ladders.
✓ Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
✓ Stock merchandise and complete routine store tasks.
✓ Work around dogs, cats, pet hair, cleaning products, and occasional messes.
✓ Safely navigate wet surfaces and busy retail environments.
Understanding the Role
Key Holders provide shift-level leadership within established company policies. This position is not responsible for:
- Making product or supply ordering decisions
- Creating or approving employee schedules
- Making disciplinary decisions
- Authorizing company spending or financial commitments
- Approving vendors, repairs, or outside services
Key Holders are expected to protect customers, staff, cash, and store assets while promptly escalating matters that require additional authority.
