Lead the Success of Your Store
The Store Manager is responsible for the overall performance, team, customer experience, and daily operation of one Paws on Chicon location.
This role combines business leadership with hands-on retail management. You will develop employees, drive sales, maintain operational standards, oversee inventory and scheduling, and help ensure that every customer receives knowledgeable and attentive service.
Your Mission
Build a high-performing team and lead a clean, organized, customer-focused store that consistently meets its business and operational goals.
What You’ll Do
You will lead the store’s people, performance, customer experience, and daily operational execution.
Business Performance
- Lead the store toward its sales, margin, inventory, labor, and customer-service goals.
- Review store performance and respond to opportunities or operational concerns.
- Manage staffing schedules within established labor expectations.
- Help develop and execute store promotions, events, and company initiatives.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, mentor, and hold employees accountable for performance and conduct.
- Review applications, interview candidates, and make hiring recommendations.
- Ensure new employees complete required sales, product, and operational training.
- Reinforce learning through coaching, role-playing, and regular feedback.
- Develop future leaders and support employee growth.
Store Operations
- Oversee receiving, inventory accuracy, reconciliation, and merchandising standards.
- Maintain a clean, stocked, organized, and customer-ready store.
- Ensure company procedures and operational standards are followed consistently.
- Act decisively when urgent operational, safety, or facility issues arise.
Customer and Delivery Experience
- Model exceptional service and ensure customers receive knowledgeable assistance.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and appropriately.
- Oversee eCommerce and local-delivery execution for the store’s assigned service area.
- Ensure delivery procedures are followed and delivery-related customer issues are resolved.

Previous retail leadership or comparable team-management experience is expected.
Training and Development
Store Managers receive training on Paws on Chicon’s products, nutrition standards, operating procedures, leadership expectations, and business systems.
Work Schedule
Store Managers work a full-time leadership schedule based on store needs. Our stores are open seven days a week and most holidays.
- Opening and closing shifts
- Weekday and weekend shifts
- Shipment and inventory-related shifts
- Store meetings, training, and special events
- Holiday shifts as required
Dependable weekend, holiday, and flexible leadership availability is required.
Physical Requirements
This is an active retail-leadership position that includes work on the sales floor, in storage areas, and throughout the store.
✓ Stand and walk for extended periods.
✓ Bend, kneel, squat, reach, and climb ladders.
✓ Lift and carry merchandise and store supplies.
✓ Assist with stocking, receiving, and merchandising.
✓ Work around dogs, cats, pet hair, and occasional pet-related messes.
✓ Safely navigate stockrooms and busy retail environments.
Role Scope
Store Managers have substantial responsibility for their assigned location. Certain company-wide decisions remain with district leadership and ownership.
